The shelter challenge is back up and running again! But since Turtle Gardens won last time, we are unable to win this time - we have to wait for the next one.
However, a major part of us winning the last challenge was because of S.A.I.N.T.S rescue! They won the challenge before us - and were in the same situation of being unable to win, so sent all their votes to us!
SAINTS is a rescue sanctuary in BC, Canada, that rescues and re-homes(if they can) senior and special needs animals, and gives them a sanctuary to rest and relax in for the rest of their days.
Some are able to find new homes with other families, leaving spaces for new animals to come to SAINTS! While many others will spend the rest of their life there being loves and taken care of because they are unable to be re-homed, which means many expenses. This challenge can help with those expenses and give more animals (such as dogs, cats, horses etc) a chance at a great life! :)
They are a great rescue and they really helped us out the last round! Please help us support SAINTS rescue by voting for them everyday in the Shelter Challenge!
Link is here: Shelter Challenge
Search under Canada, BC --> then go to page 5 and you will find SAINTS rescue!
After you vote for them once, they will automatically appear below the search bar for you every time you visit the site!
They are in second place and are only behind by about 2% of votes! It only takes a few seconds - no signing up or anything! Please help and VOTE! And share this to others and ask them to vote too!
Thank you!

January's Dog Run!
Today I helped out with the January Dog Run!
It was great and running like a well oiled machine! As the foster parents/adoptive parents came the dog was taken from the barn to get fitted for collars and leashes, then moved to the "photo area" to get a little photo session, then went home! :)
Many super cute and adorable dogs were brought down to go to their new homes, or into foster care!
All the dogs that came down are super great! They will be added to petfinder soon!
Zipper would make a great agility prospect, or running partner!
Taryn is a "velcro-dog" and loves people!
Frankie is a very sweet little girl!
Sunny is a great girl, and is very obedient!
Sandy is a sweet happy-go-lucky girl!
Cheddar is a little bundle of energy! :) He loved Copper! Hehe!
And Phillydelphia is a sweet girl that has a prospective family but is going to a foster in the meantime.
Piper was taking some great photos today for us!
If you go and "like" Turtle Gardens Facebook page you can see the updates and photos as they come in!
It made me miss fostering for sure! Maybe if school isn't turning out to be too tough later in the semester I could foster, but I will have to see... I have to be realistic as I need to make sure I am still getting good grades, even though I'd love to have 5 dogs at home :P
I at least cannot wait till the summer when I will for sure have time to foster again!
Will post more soon!

Dog of the Day: SPOT!
Hello there!
My name is Spot! I am a young, male, Collie X Greyhound (Lurcher)!
I originally lived in India, on my own trying to find my way! Thank doG I was rescued by really nice people and sent to live with Yvette and Dave and all the other dogs from Turtle Gardens! I met them in May of this year, and man, am I glad I found them!
Now I get lots of food and love and dogs to play with! They taught me how to be a dog again and I am so grateful for it! And I surprised Mama Yvette with how affectionate I was even after being alone!
I am very affectionate and gentle! I love people and dogs too.
I am very eager to please and am very smart! So smart that I know how to unlock latches!
I am also very friendly - Can I be your friend?
I am looking for my forever home, where I can be loved and go on nice walks and learn some fun tricks! And in return I will love you and be your best friend forever!

The near future...
Well the semi-final round is over and they will announce the top 10 in our budget category on December 17th! So we will wait and see what that says!
Also, the TG dog run is coming up this weekend and although I work and will not be able to attend I am very excited to see all these great dogs go into wonderful foster homes!
Also in other "future" news... As some of you may know I make braided fabric toys for dogs, as well as tennis ball throw toys (tennis balls with rope). I usually keep these at home to sell at fundraisers and expos etc, but I realize they are just sitting there when there aren't any events, and not many people know about them, so I thought why not knock two birds with one stone! :)
What I plan to do over the next week (once my finals are done) is post these for purchase online! The money will go straight to TG! This way we can give our dogs a neat christmas gift and also, all the money raised will be a great Christmas present for the TG dogs too! :)
I also make some other items, such as kurranda beds (originally made for our rescue dog, but turns out my foster dogs and foster cats love it too!), homemade meat-free/wheat-free dog treats, dog agility jumps, and am soon going to start making stuffing-less toys too (once my sewing machine works again!).
I might add those as request-able items in the future.
I will add some pictures over the next few days so you can get a better idea of what I'm talking about!
In the meantime please keep voting for Turtle Gardens Spay Neuter Society in the Shelter Challange!
Will post more soon!
P.s. Let me know what you think of the "Christmas Theme" ;)

Hey everyone!
Unfortunately, with only 1.5 days left, it looks like TG isn't going to make it into the finals :(
However, we can put our votes to good use!
We can keep voting for TG for sure! But we will also have extra votes! Please use them to vote for VOKRA!
It is the Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association!
http://www.orphankittenrescue.com/
They to TNR (Trap Neuter Release) programs, and try to rehome all the adoptable cats they can! Obviously that is a big job! They need all the help they can get! AND they are in 12th place!!!
If we help them they can get into the top 10!! THey only need approx 200 more votes/day to be in!
If everyone who visits my page in a day voted that would just about do it!
Please vote!
You can use this link here - and you can vote once per day EACH from your facebook, and aviva account!
