Fundraiser

Hey just just a reminder that the fundraiser for Turtle Gardens is taking place in only 1 week! So get your tickets now!!

It's going to be a Schanks Sports Grill in New West, on June 15th from 7pm-10pm.

We're trying to fill the bar up so we'd love for you all to be there! You can purchase your tickets through me personally or receive an "e-ticket" online by e-mailing Lisa at tgfundraiser@hotmail.com !

Each ticket is $20 and includes: a burger (veggie available) and fries, and a beer/pop, and $10 goes straight to Turtle Gardens to help the dogs!

Schanks is a FANTASTIC sports bar and has something for everyone! They have pool tables, and even virtual golf and mini golf!!!  We will also be holding a 50/50 draw and a raffle!

Speaking of which... Thank you so much for all the donations for the raffle baskets! Aron Pet Food donated a whole big box of Rawhides to be used for the raffle as well as for the rescue dogs!  Thank you so much Josef (Owner of Aron Pet Foods) for that FANTASTIC donation! If you'd like to know more about his holistic beef chews you can find more information on his website here: http://www.aronpetfood.com
You may also know them as "Healthy K9" beef chew, and you can find them in Tisol locations!

And here is a picture of Jay enjoying her awesome 100% beef chew :D She loves it!

Turtle Gardens would be nothing without its volunteers and donations!
So if you'd like more information regarding the fundraiser event you can visit http://www.turtlegardens.org/blog/?p=27415

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is also another Turtle Gardens event happening!
At the Tisol on Grandview on June 16th from 12pm- 4pm!

Jaycee will be there (as will I) and other Turtle Gardens dogs and volunteers!
With her nose I'll probably be spending my time keeping her out of the bulk treat boxes ;P

Jaycee has been doing great but is definitely waiting for her forever home! She is such a lovely girl that she would be such a blessing to any family!

Will post more soon!

Daycare - Take two!

First off, I am very mad at myself... I left my purse on the bus... Hopefully it turns up but as is I'm missing all my money and ID, so hopefully they still let me into the fundraiser at shanks with just a passport! And hopefully my bag turns up... Because my work uniform and SIN card and ID and everything is in there :(

Anywho... In dog related news ;)

Jay is doing great! Took her out last night for night time fetch with a glowing chuck-it and she loved it! She would run the entire length of the soccer field and back over and over!

She's been loving her rawhides and chew toys. And she did the cutest thing when she was thirsty yesterday...
She was chewing on a rawhide and then picked it up walked over to her empty food bowl, gently placed the rawhide inside, then went to her water dish and began to drink. Then went back to her food bowl picked up her rawhide then went back to her blanket to chew on it! It was so adorable! She's such a smartie :D!

We were planning on just doing daycare about once per week but due to a scheduling conflict that came up suddenly between me and my sister, we decided instead of Jay being home for a long while (which she will do when necessary - but I try really hard to avoid as much as possible!) we would put her into daycare for the day!
I knew shed love it, and this way when I come home from work I know she's tired and happy! Besides when her eyes are saying "Foster Mommie, I'd really like to go run and play with some puppy friends tomorrow, pretty pleeeease?" and how can you say no to those eyes? ;)

They're also going to send a report card home with her which is cool so I will pass that along to all of you too :)

Will post more soon :)
And don't forget to leave me comments! I have a long transit ride home ;)

Post-Daycare

(I am posting this from my phone so please excuse any grammatical errors)

So I dropped Jay off at daycare this morning before I went to work and then my sister picked her up later in the day.

About an hour after I dropped her off, I received a phone call. The phone number listed was the daycare. I immediately started worrying; Is everything okay? Is Jay sick or hurt? But I answered the phone and wouldn't you believe it - they called to tell me how amazing she is doing! It was her first day in their daycare and they couldn't express how much they love her already! Even when my sister picked her up they were still gushing! She even texted me to tell me how much they loved her!

They told me how great she was being with all of the other dogs and of course she melts all the hearts she meets!

No surprise from such a well socialized charmer! ;)

My sister, Tarah, who helps me care for my foster dogs, picked up Jay from the daycare while I was at work and messaged me to tell me how cute Jay was being! Apparently playing with doggies for a few hours is very tiring! As you'll see in the following pictures....

And the pink collar you see is her flat collar for daycare - it was left on until she got home but then she went straight to sleep! So it was just left on for now. How cute or what! :)

Can't believe she is still looking or her forever home! Whoever gets to take her home is one lucky family/person!

Will post more soon!

And I always love to hear your comments! So please comment away!! :D

First day at Daycare!

As proud as any foster mama I saw my foster Jaycee off to her first day of Daycare (In burnaby). I know she's been to daycares up north, but it still gave a little tug at my heartstrings to see her walk into the daycare and off to play with the other dogs!

She is such a fabulous dog and they already love her there and she hasn't even been there a full hour!

They agreed to take some video footage for me so hopefully I get that soon so I can post it for her possible future family to see!  We are still looking for that special family for this amazing girl! She will melt your heart!

I took her for a short run this morning before daycare it fulfilled a double purpose: lowering her energy for daycare, and making Jay happy! Because she loves jogging :) She keeps a decent pace just beside or behind you. If she ever does get a little ahead she will keep looking back at you to make sure she doesn't get in your way! :) What a sweety ;)

I am planning on getting some cheap roller blades and see how she does with them! (I'm on the roller blades not her ;P)
That way she can run a little faster if she likes and I can keep up. (My cardio stamina isn't what it used to be!) Though she is usually content to just keep a brisk jog beside you. And she is very good at slowing down when you do! I just give her a quiet whoa and she goes back to a walk. Now I hardly even have to actually say it as she is watching me and knows when I slow down.

I will post on here when I get more info on her day at daycare!

Jay at the Vet!

Don't worry! Jay's fine! We are going to be taking her to daycare for extra socialization and fun times, and they require a bordatella vaccination.

So we took her in and she did the nasal vaccination (liquid up her nose) and she did great! No sneezing or shaking her head and no hard feelings! She went right up to the vet after and sat asking "More cookies please!". Dr. Ubi was so great with her and she definitely loved him! (His cookies were also more enticing then mine :P) Jay loves every body :)

She loves going to the vet and had her nose practically glued to the floor taking in all the different smells! She was very good with the vet checking her all over and as I said she even took the medication in stride!

I even have a nice photo of her sitting pretty in the vet's office! :)

Dr.Ubi said Jay was in great health and was at a great weight! I just had to ask because we weighed her and she came in at 58lbs! Even the vet assistant said wow! She doesn't look like she's 58lbs but pitty's are known to be a bit hefty in weight even if they're not super big.
She was a bit skinny when we first got her - probably stress. So we brought her up a few pounds and are holding her here now that we can no longer see her ribs easily. So it was great to hear when Dr.Ubi confirmed she is now at a very good weight!

Some Shaw guys came yesterday to fix our cable and I was in a different room with Jay and when we came out the guys were tromping into the house, walking right towards us, all big and looking very intimidating and it startled Jay, as she is still a young puppy and is still getting used to different experiences. But after a couple minutes and a few sniffs she was making friends! And was even starting to be too friendly! :D I had to take her to another room with me so she could let them do their work, especially cause one of them had dogs at home so Jay wouldn't stop sniffing him :P

She is such a friendly puppy and gets along with everyone! But she is still young and new experiences can sometimes be overwhelming, but she is a VERY quick learner! It only took her maybe 30 seconds to walk over and sniff the guys and start asking for pets :) The Shaw guys loved her and told us they think she is such a sweetheart! And even the people at the vet were saying what a pretty and sweet girl she is!
Is it Nap-Time yet? Okay, I'll just nap right here.

They don't do the inner nasal vaccinations (even though they are more effective) unless the dog is very friendly as you are very close to their mouth! But as stated above she was so sweet the vet said the inner nasal should be no problem, and it wasn't! She was more likely to lick his face then anything else! She probably would have too, but we all moved a bit out of the way after incase she sneezed :P

Jay is still looking for her forever home, and anyone who was lucky enough to add her to their family will have a wonderful, sweet, friend and companion!
Jay loves to play but also loves to nap! I took her for a run today so she is still napping while I write this. She is curled up at the end of my bed with her head on my feet. She likes to sleep like this too. Even if I toss and turn it's no problem - she just goes back to sleep. But I think she just likes to know I'm there so she cuddles in. She is such a sweetheart! And everyone at the dog parks comment on how pretty and sweet she is!

Nap-Time

I've even had people come up and stop me on the street and ask if they can meet her because she is so pretty and sweet looking! She has the same beauty outside as inside for sure! And people can see that :)

It's tough with her breed sometimes, as many people take one look at her breed and walk away. I saw this many times at the SPCA when I volunteered there.

The thing is you really have to meet her before you can see how the pictures don't give her justice, and how her sweet, eager to please, personality just can't be put into the right words! She is just an amazing dog! And I can't wait for her to find that home that doesn't pass over her page and see's just how amazing and wonderful this dog truly is!

Will post more soon!
